Crochet Maple Leaf Pattern (US Terms)
Materials:
- Yarn: Worsted weight (red or any autumn leaf color)
- Hook: Size G/4.0mm
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain
- sc = single crochet
- dc = double crochet
- tr = treble crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- st(s) = stitch(es)
- inc = increase (2 stitches in the same space)
Instructions:

Start with a magic ring or ch 4 and join with a sl st to form a ring.

Round 1:
- Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc into the ring. (12 dc total)
- Join with sl st to the first dc.

Round 2:
- Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in the same st, 2 dc in each st around. (24 dc total)
- Join with sl st to the first dc.

Round 3:
- Ch 3, 1 dc in the next st, 2 dc in the next st, 1 dc in the next st. Repeat around. (36 dc total)
- Join with sl st to the first dc.

Begin Leaf Points:
- For each point, follow the steps below. You will be working in rows for each point.
Leaf Point Instructions (Make 5 Points)

Row 1 (for each point):
- Ch 3, dc in the next 2 sts.
- Turn.

Row 2:
- Ch 3, dc in each st across.
- Turn.

Row 3:
- Ch 4, tr in the next st, dc in the next st.
- Turn.

Row 4:
- Ch 3, sc in each st back down the point until you reach the main body of the leaf.

Fasten off and repeat for each leaf point around the main body of the leaf.
Leaf Veins:

With a contrasting or the same yarn:
- Attach yarn to the center of the leaf.
- Use sl sts to crochet up the center vein of each leaf point.
- Optionally, crochet smaller veins branching out from the main one using sl sts or sc.
Finishing:
- Weave in all loose ends with a tapestry needle.
- Block the leaf gently to shape it nicely.
